Through the lens of the industry’s leading manufacturers and consultants we will discuss the current trends and challenges of manufacturing while exploring what the future holds.


Matt Jackson

Matt Jackson is a Managing Director in the Jones Lang LaSalle Business Consulting Group.  He is based in Washington DC.  Mr. Jackson is responsible for assisting companies with global strategy, cross border direct investment strategy, location footprint strategy, site selection, and incentives negotiations.

Having dedicated a career to global location footprint challenges, Mr. Jackson brings a unique perspective solving such issues.  He has worked extensively in many of the world’s key investment markets globally and across the United States.

Mr. Jackson has been interviewed and written articles on global location footprint strategy, portfolio and work place related topics for many industry leading publications such as Time International, Industry Week, LA Business Journal and USA Today, just to mention a few.


Hans Hoermann

Executive Director,

Boehringer Ingelheim (BIFI)

Hans Hoermann is Executive Director, at Boehringer Ingelheim (BIFI), located in Fremont, California. BIFI is a fully integrated member of Boehringer Ingelheims’s global Biopharma network regarding development, analytics and manufacturing and is a designated launch site for BI products.

He studied Physics at the University of Applied Science in Ravensburg-Weingarten. After 3 years in development of laser induced chemical processes for micro-electronics at Siemens, in Munich, he joined Boehringer Ingelheim in 1990.

He has more than 24 years experience in bio pharmaceuticals in the disciplines of qualification, validation, process & product development, manufacturing and lean manufacturing. He has been responsible for the start-up of a large scale lyophilization facility, successfully introduced the pre-filled syringe technology and established isolator technology for aseptic manufacturing within the company.

Greg Cho

Director of Supply Chain,

Mr. Cho is a highly skilled Consultant with over 10 years of experience in production and high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments. His expertise includes hands-on consulting, delivery and training of Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Supply Chain Development, and Quality Management Systems, processes and techniques.

Specifically, Mr. Cho has actively helped manufacturers in optimizing facility layouts, streamlining manufacturing and office processes, and improving quality. His clients have benefited from significant reductions in manufacturing waste, cycle times, lead times, and quality errors. Mr. Cho has helped improve operations across a wide-range of manufacturing industries, including semiconductor, aerospace, defense, automotive, food processing, biotech, electronic components, consumer goods, wineries, and rubber recycling.

Prior to joining Manex, Mr. Cho was a Quality Engineer with Sanmina-SCI, where he improved Supply Chain delivery and quality performance by working collaboratively with suppliers to improve their processes and establish metrics to sustain success.

Mr. Cho has a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Davis and is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and a Certified Internal Auditor for ISO 9001 and AS9100.

Sam Coughlin

General Manager - U.S.

Furturis Automotive

Sam Coughlin is General Manager for the U.S division of Futuris group, an Automotive interior design and manufacturing company.

Sam is a graduate of Brunel university and received his MBA from Melbourne business school. Having spent the first eight years of his career in Europe working for Johnson controls launching various vehicle programs, Sam then moved to Australia and spent time working with GM and Ford before joining Futuris as engineering manager.

While at Futuris he has worked on China localization projects, sourcing value opportunities in metals supply. As Asia rebounded from the financial recession he moved to Thailand to set up Futuris’s operations in the country. Establishing a new business unit in Thailand with two plants, 1,000 employees and a global supply chain of customers and suppliers. Sam focused on integrating the Futuris and Thai cultures to develop local capability to manage the diverse manufacturing processes and a complex supply chain.

In 2013 Sam moved to U.S to spearhead the growth of Futuris in North America, including setting up a new R&D center and vertically integrated manufacturing facility, and enacting a shift to a North American supply base that will allow responsive value driven solutions for key customers like Tesla, for whom time to market is key.
