Event Overview: Safeway is a leader in the corporate world on sustainability and the responsible use of the Earth's resources. As a guiding principle, Safeway promotes growth through the thoughtful use of its natural resources. Social responsibility is at the heart of Safeway's corporate culture. Linda Nordgren is a driving force supporting Safeway's efforts to create a greener and more efficient supply chain. Linda will share this leading grocer's strategic efforts and commitment to integrating sustainable business practices within the organization and with valued partners across the supply chain. She will highlight the use of alternative energy, recycling, source reduction, and transportation efficiency programs that have helped Safeway reduce its carbon footprint.


Speaker Bio: Linda Nordgren is the Group Vice President Strategic Sourcing and Supply Chain for Safeway Inc.  She is responsible for the Product Cost of Goods, Inventory Working Capital and Supply Chain Performance. She has been with Safeway for 21 years holding several Marketing Director positions.  Linda is also responsible for all Global Strategic Sourcing of raw materials, packaging, finished goods for Safeway’s 33 Manufacturing Plants and the Supply Chain Performance of Safeway’s supply chain network of 1800 retail stores and 14 distribution centers.

Ms. Nordgren is a recipient of Safeway’s distinguished ‘President’s Award’ for contributions to the growth and success of the company.  Safeway’s Supply Chain team in collaboration with Kraft was awarded the CPG Award for Innovation, Creativity and Excellence- awarded by the Grocery Manufacturers of America.  In Tom Kelley’s book  “The Ten Faces of Innovation”, Safeway’s Supply Chain is highlighted in the chapter titled “The Collaborator”.

Linda has Bachelor of Arts Degree from St. Mary’s College of California from the School of Liberal Arts, the Integral Program.   She and her husband Brent and her sons Bryce and Bjorn reside in Danville, California.
